May 28, 2007: I Would've Loved You Anyway

~
If I'd a-known the way that this would end If I'd a-read the last page first If I'd a-had the strength to walk away If I'd a-known how this would hurt I would've loved you anyway I'd do it all the same Not a second I would change Not a touch that I would trade Had I known my heart would break I'd a-loved you anyway. It's bittersweet to look back now At mem'ries withered on the vine But just to hold you close to me For a moment in time I would've loved you anyway I'd do it all the same Not a second I would change Not a touch that I would trade Had I known my heart would break I'd a-loved you anyway Even if I'd seen it coming You still've seen me running Straight into your arms I would've loved you anyway I'd do it the same Not a second I would change Not a touch that I would trade Had I known my heart would break I would've loved you anyway... I Would've Loved You Anyway

May 25, 2007: Your Own Story II

Hi everyone,

I am not sure what got into me, but I think I must been getting old .... only lately. Or is it PMS?!

While looking at the sunset on the balcony yesterday I somehow travelled down memory lane. How my life has changed. A lot! From a shy 'kampong' girl who only knew how to climb trees, walked barefoot in the paddy field (before the owner turned it into a pineapple farm), catched fish in the river near my house (but strange though - I must admit - I can't swim, I mean proper swiming! You can ask Herb! lol) or joined my mother and 'her group' collecting 'ulam' or fruits in the jungle (especially when it rained and my mother couldn't 'work' - she's a rubber tapper); To where I am today, a corporate lady!

What else that I want in my life? What would I do if I were suddenly to learn that I were to die at sunset today? Oops, enough ramblings ......

Actually when I was thinking about my last sunset, this idea came accross my mind. Remember our last "Your Own Story" blog (posted on 14 March 2007 and ended an 21 March 2007) ? So guys and girls here comes the time for "Your Own Story" again !!!! The only difference is that this time I'll pick the title of our story and that will be "THE LAST SUNSET" and the story begins with the following quotation by John Green Whittier. Have fun!

Touched by a light that hath no name,
A glory never sung,
Aloft on sky and mountain wall
Are God's great pictures hung.
How changed the summits vast and old!
No longer granite-browed,
They melt in rosy mist; the rock
Is softer than the cloud;
The valley holds its breath; no leaf
Of all its elms is twirled;
The silence of eternity
Seems falling on the world.

May 24, 2007: One of the Happiest Moment

As I was watering the flowers on my balcony,
the sun dropped and lay like a great golden globe in the low west.
It faded like the spreading of a peacock’s tail.
How I wish I could be a little girl again.
~
I first took this photo before being warned of battery running low.
I have to stop and re-charged the battery.
.
.
After about 10 minutes I was ready for another shoot
(I also disabled the date setting).
While positioning the camera all of a sudden I saw a bird flying across!
.
.
And more birds joining ..... Ohhhh, my day is perfect!
.
.
I was trying hard to capture the birds and not to lose the sunset setting.
.
.
Is there anything more beautiful than a bird flying accross
infront of a beautiful sunset?
.
.
The bird is carrying a beautiful rose in his beak .....
.
.
A beautiful painting in his feet .....
.
.
The birds are all gone now .... maybe they have found their way home.
I am alone, watching the changing colors of the sky ....
.

I venerate old age; and I love not the man

who can look without emotion upon the sunset of life,

when the dusk of evening begins to gather over the watery eye,

and the shadows of twilight grow broader and deeper upon the understanding.

(Henry Wadsworth Longfellow)

May 21, 2007: New Fad in Town

Hi everyone,

I was reading local newspaper while on train to work this morning and came acrros this article that somehow brought smile on my face (not sure why ).

This is what it all about (news from AFP):

It seems now spas across United States - from New York, to Miami, Los Angeles and Minneapolis - are currently promoting butt facials (some called it 'butt lift'), which promise to tighten, lift and tone the posteriors of clients eager to don their bathing suits and make an impression on the beach.

The treatment is part of a wave of non-invasive procedures spas have created to capitalise on clients who have money to spare and who are keen on taking care of every inch of their body.

Some treatments for the rearend focus on cleansing and detoxifying the skin, much like a regular facial. Others use micro-dermabrasion or microcurrent therapy to rid of the buttocks of cellulite deposites, acne and other skin problems.

May 17, 2007: Beauty & Health

Beauty

BEAUTY

There are women who have an indefinable charm in their faces which makes them beautiful to their intimates, but a cold stranger who tried to reason the matter out and find this beauty would fail.
- A Tramp Abroad

One is apt to overestimate beauty when it is rare.
- Innocents Abroad

One frequently only finds out how really beautiful a really beautiful woman is after considerable acquaintance with her; and the rule applies to Niagara Falls, to majestic mountains, and to mosques--especially to mosques.
- Innocents Abroad

HEALTH

He had had much experience of physicians, and said "the only way to keep your health is to eat what you don't want, drink what you don't like, and do what you'd druther not."
- Following the Equator

There are people who strictly deprive themselves of each and ever eatable, drinkable and smokable which has in any way acquired a shady reputation. They pay this price for health. And health is all they get for it. How strange it is. It is like paying out your whole fortune for a cow that has gone dry.
- Mark Twain's Autobiography

Under our free institutions anybody can poison himself that wants to and will pay the price.

May 17, 2007: Penang Hill

Penang Hill also known as Bukit Bendera is 830 meter high (2,750 foot) and it's much cooler than in the city below. It's about 3 degrees cooler than the places near the coast. Visitors can ascend to the top by either hiking up or by the funicular railway which has been operational since 1922. Apart from the cool, refreshing climate and the fantastic view at the summit, visitors can also view the picturesque bungalows, a beautiful flower garden and a bird park.

Maybe on the next visit we can try the walking track up the hill. It takes 4 hours to reach the top (but is recommended only for the more energetic.) The jungle trail begins at the 'moongate' at Jalan Air Terjun, approximately 300m from the Botanical Gardens entrance.

Anyway, during our last day in Penang we took a train up and down Penang Hill. We are unlucky because the Canopy Walk is temporarily closed.

We also discovered quite a number of unique and beautiful flowers. This is me being followed by the paparazzi while trying to capture the picture of 'bunga kantan' flower bud of torch ginger)!
Here's the outcome!
It looked like the paparazzi can't leave me alone!
Walla, the beautiful orange flower .... lily I think
Here is the slideshow of more pictures taking at Penang Hill.
