May 25, 2007: Your Own Story II

Hi everyone,

I am not sure what got into me, but I think I must been getting old .... only lately. Or is it PMS?!

While looking at the sunset on the balcony yesterday I somehow travelled down memory lane. How my life has changed. A lot! From a shy 'kampong' girl who only knew how to climb trees, walked barefoot in the paddy field (before the owner turned it into a pineapple farm), catched fish in the river near my house (but strange though - I must admit - I can't swim, I mean proper swiming! You can ask Herb! lol) or joined my mother and 'her group' collecting 'ulam' or fruits in the jungle (especially when it rained and my mother couldn't 'work' - she's a rubber tapper); To where I am today, a corporate lady!

What else that I want in my life? What would I do if I were suddenly to learn that I were to die at sunset today? Oops, enough ramblings ......

Actually when I was thinking about my last sunset, this idea came accross my mind. Remember our last "Your Own Story" blog (posted on 14 March 2007 and ended an 21 March 2007) ? So guys and girls here comes the time for "Your Own Story" again !!!! The only difference is that this time I'll pick the title of our story and that will be "THE LAST SUNSET" and the story begins with the following quotation by John Green Whittier. Have fun!

Touched by a light that hath no name,
A glory never sung,
Aloft on sky and mountain wall
Are God's great pictures hung.
How changed the summits vast and old!
No longer granite-browed,
They melt in rosy mist; the rock
Is softer than the cloud;
The valley holds its breath; no leaf
Of all its elms is twirled;
The silence of eternity
Seems falling on the world.
