I dreamed of Spring

I WANDERED lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed - and gazed - but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

                          - William Wordsworth, 1804

When I woke up this morning, there's no daffodils .... but I have a dream last night: I danced with daffodils in Lake District!  But not to worry, come April this dream will become reality! My first Spring ever - in Lake District and Northern Spain.

Spring in Lake District is a MUST. I haven't seen enough of Lake District, maybe I will never be.  I wonder how Striding Edge looks like in Spring, or experience colors from the top of Catbells and enjoying beauty of Derwent Water and the Buttermere fells...... Lake District, I am coming!

But then, I will only have 3 days to spend at Lake District! I know it is not enough, but I will come back ..... one day, I will be back.

The rest of the holiday will be spent in Northern Spain.

" Patchwork of ancient kingdoms. Snowy Picos, Moorish castles and beaches at the end of the world. The best sights. Goya, Guggenheim and Gernika. Glorious Gothic and romantic Romanesque."

The above is an excerpt from Footprint's Northern Spain.  One of our destination will be 'Picos de Europa' or Peaks of the Europe. It is a small area of the vast Cordillera Cantabrica blessed with spectacular scenery, superb walking and abundant wildlife. It's called Picos de Europa because the peaks often would have been the first sight of the landSpanish sailors got on their return from the Americas.

So, that's part of the Spring holiday plan in April.

  1. And with a bit of luck on top of the Picos you will encounter, for the first time in YOUR life, some SNOW!
