January 10, 2007: Fruits Anyone?

I bought some local fruits on the way back from the office today, Both are from the family of 'jambu'. Many fruits share the name of jambu and also share a thirst-quenching juiciness. While they may be related, the varieties look quite different and taste different too.

The red one is known as 'jambu air' (water jambu). Jambu Air (Eugenia aquea), The Water Apple has a white or pink flesh is mildly fragrant with a faint sweetish flavour. It is a good thirst-quencher.

While the green one as known by everybody is guava or in Malay we called it 'jambu batu' (stone jambu).
